The Mercantile all started with two sisters and a dream. A dream to create opportunity for other local businesses to experience the incredible, collaborative Downtown Van Buren, AR community.
Our Story
Our boutique, Main Street Threads, started as a business inside another business. We have absolutely fallen in love with the downtown Van Buren community, and wanted to extend the same Main Street Van Buren welcome to as many businesses as we can. In our boutique we have always tried to support local makers and artisans by carrying locally made products as much as possible. The conversation began on how we could do more, and Main Street Mercantile became our newest venture.
We invite you to join the movement, of supporting as many locally owned businesses you can! They are the backbone of our economy. Help us shine a light on local businesses!

The building was previously a bookstore and apartment...
We repurposed as many of the original features of the building as possible!
Construction began in Spring of 2022 to bring this old building back to life!
We were able to salvage much of the original flooring and brickwork.
And we opened these beautiful doors to the public in September of 2022.
